FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions about Custom Printed & Promotional Pens (Australia)
- 1) What are custom printed pens?
- Custom printed pens (also called branded or promotional pens) are writing instruments printed or engraved with your logo, tagline, or campaign message. They’re popular because they’re practical, low-cost, and keep your brand in people’s hands daily.
- 2) Which print methods are best for pens—pad print, full-colour digital, or laser engraving?
- Pad print is ideal for solid spot colours and crisp logos on curved barrels.
Full-colour digital print suits gradients, photos, and multi-colour artwork.
Laser engraving permanently marks metal pens with a premium, subtle finish (often silver or brass tone). - 3) What’s the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom pens?
- MOQs vary by pen model and decoration method. As a guide, basic plastic pens usually start from 250, more deluxe styles 100. Basic metal pens start from an MOQ of 100, but premium lines can be as little as 1 pen.
- 4) How long does it take to get promotional pens printed and delivered in Australia?
- Typical lead times range from 5–10 business days after artwork approval however on selected models we offer express options of 3 days and even 24 hour production. Delivery time depends on location and courier.
- 5) Can I get pens printed in full colour?
- Yes. Choose full-colour digital print for vibrant, CMYK artwork or detailed graphics. This process is available on most plastic pens and many varieties of metal pens
- 6) Can you match Pantone® colours?
- Yes. Spot-colour pad printing typically supports Pantone matching (within standard print tolerance). Exact matches on metal or coloured barrels may visually vary, so ask for pre-production proofing if colour matching is critical.
- 7) Do you offer sample pens before I place a bulk order?
- Yes. We can provide unbranded or pre-production (decorated) samples on request. Fees may apply and can sometimes be rebated against your order. please check our sample request page for further information.
- 8) What file types do you need for pen printing?
- Vector artwork (AI, EPS, or high-resolution PDF) is best. It ensures sharp edges and clean results at small imprint sizes. High-res PNG/SVG can sometimes be used for digital print.
- 9) Do you offer graphic assistance?
- Yes we do. We offer a free digital visual of your artwork on the pens selected. We can also redraw artworks (fees may apply) if you don't have the correct format.
- 10) Will my logo be readable on such a small print area?
- Yes. Our team optimises placement and line weights for the imprint area. For tiny details, we may recommend simplifying the mark or switching to engraving or full-colour digital for clarity.
- 11) What pen types can I brand—plastic, metal, eco, stylus, gel, or fountain?
- All of the above. The most popular for events are plastic and metal ballpoints. Stylus pens suit touchscreens. Eco options (e.g., bamboo, recycled plastic pens) are ideal for sustainability messaging and premium metal or brand-name pens work well for gifts.
- 12) What’s the difference between printing and engraving on metal pens?
